Through individual or group counseling, the Counseling Services’ staff provides support and an objective viewpoint as you make important life decisions. Counseling services are free and confidential to all currently registered students.

The Hosford Counseling and Psychological Services Clinic, under the direction of a licensed psychologist,
provides mental health and career counseling services to residents of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, as well as to UCSB faculty and staff. All services are offered on a sliding scale basis (insurances are not accepted). Clinicians work with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family, and group therapy settings. Clients from all ethnic and economic backgrounds are welcomed. Clinicians (counselors and psychotherapists) are doctoral students enrolled in the Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology Department in the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. All cases are supervised by licensed psychologists. The Hosford Clinic offers the unique opportunity for clients to receive the kind of long-term therapy unavailable in the managed care system at very affordable fees. Our primary goal is to provide state-of-the-art treatment to those in need.

The Psychology Assessment Center (PAC), housed within the Hosford Clinic is the new Psychology Assessment Center (PAC), directed by Dr. Steven Smith. As a clinical research center, the PAC provides
psychological testing services for the assessment
of disorders that affect psychological, emotional, academic, and occupational functioning. These include: attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder; learning disabilities, including dyslexia; depression and anxiety; neurocognitive disorders, including nonverbal learning disabilities and mild to moderate mental disorders.
The assessments are comprehensive in nature, consisting
of multi-method testing of neuropsychological,
intellectual, contextual, and personality factors. They are able to test clients between the ages 5 and 65 and will provide written and verbal feedback.

Housing will be available for Summer Sessions students in on-campus residence halls and University-owned apartments this summer. Contracts will be awarded on a “first-come, first served” basis. Space is limited. Applications are available beginning March 1st, at www.housing.ucsb.edu.

Housing in Isla Vista
Many of the apartments available in Isla Vista for the Summer Sessions are places that have been rented on 12-month leases. Subletting is very beneficial for students who are coming for the Summer Sessions and need a place for short-term rental at a lower rental rate on a month-to-month or a six-week basis. All of the sublet listings (and other housing listings) can be found on the web at www.housing.ucsb.edu. You will need your PERM number and PIN number to access the online service. April and May are the best times to start looking for housing sublets for the summer.

The University Library collections include over 2,800,000 volumes, 500,000 federal, state and foreign government publications, and over 315,000 audio recordings. The Library subscribes to over 22,000 serial publications and has over 3,700,000 microform items.

General Information: Parking Regulations & Permits
UCSB parking permits are required on all vehicles parked on campus from 7:30 am to midnight, Monday through Sundays (7 days per week). The public is not allowed to park on campus between midnight to 5:00 am. Permits are not required on university administrative holidays. Please check the Transportation & parking website (www.tps.ucsb.edu) for complete, updated parking information.

Transportation Alternative Program (TAP)

The campus Recreation Center features an aquatics complex, racquetball and squash courts, two gymnasia, and a multi-activity court for indoor soccer and roller hockey. A “state-of-the-art” exercise studio, 20 tennis courts, three sand volleyball courts, a 400 meter track, running tracks and three miles of beach await exercise enthusiasts. The Recreational Center is free to all students with a valid registration card.

Student ID Cards—New and returning students may obtain a UCSB Student ID card at the ACCESS Photo Center located on the main floor of the UCen.

ACCESS ID Debit Cards—Students with the ACCESS ID card (the full color card) can choose to activate their card into a personal ACCESS debit account which works like a credit card in reverse. After making a deposit, purchases will be automatically deducted from your account by simply swiping the card at any location which accepts ACCESS.
