STEM Transfer Summer Start Program (TSSP)

STEM Transfer Summer Start Program is an innovative opportunity designed for newly admitted UCSB Transfer Students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM), with a focus on majors in:

  • Chemistry and Biochemistry

  • Economics

  • Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology

  • Physics

  • Psychological and Brain Sciences

TSSP students take up to 9 units. During this time, along with taking courses, UCSB faculty, graduate students and staff will provide one-on-one mentoring designed to orient TSSP students to campus resources and to their major. Students will also be encouraged to prepare for involvement in faculty research and student-initiated research within the College of Letters and Science's Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Program.

TSSP Students enjoy:

  • funding to cover up to 9 course units as well as campus-based fees

  • a 1-unit course that will prepare you to succeed in your STEM major; offered both in the Summer and Fall terms

  • a dedicated Financial Aid specialist

  • a dedicated undergraduate advisor in your major
