FSSP Students take 7-13 units of UCSB courses with smaller class sizes during the less hectic summer quarter. The average course load for this program is 9 units. Select from 90 lower division courses, including general education and pre-major requirements as well as freshman seminars, special FSSP undergraduate research courses, honors sections, and enrichment classes. Additionally, all FSSP students enroll in a common course, The Modern Research University, created to help you learn about faculty and undergraduate research as well as the many opportunities and resources UCSB offers.
Academic Advisors in your college are available to assist you in deciding which summer courses to take that will help you complete general education and pre-major requirements. There are three undergraduate Colleges at UC Santa Barbara: the College of Letters & Science, the College of Engineering and the College of Creative Studies.
College of Letters & Science
Most incoming freshmen, including those who are undeclared, are students in the College of Letters & Science (L&S). Before selecting your summer courses, you should attend an advising webinar provided by Academic Advising in the College of Letters & Science. The advising webinar dates for 2018 are: TBA
College of Engineering
