Application/Registration Process
The application process depends on your student status. Please read below:
- UCSB Students and Newly Admitted UC Students—If you are a continuing UCSB student, or newly admitted UC student, taking courses Off Campus, you will need to complete the Application Form so that we can charge you correctly on your BARC bill. Please ensure that this application is received by Summer Sessions before the June 15 deadline. You may register by using GOLD on-line within three working days of submission of the Application Form.
- Returning UCSB Students and Students from Another UC Campus—If you are a student from another UC campus, taking courses Off Campus, you will need to complete the Application Form and ensure it is received by Summer Sessions before the June 15 deadline. Upon receipt of your application, a Registration Information E-Mail, containing your PIN and PERM numbers, will be sent to you so that you can access our GOLD on-line registration system.
- Visiting Non-UC Students —Non-UC students taking courses Off Campus will need to complete the Application Form ensure it is received by Summer Sessions before the June 15 Application Deadline. A $140 Non-refundable Application Fee must be sent with the Application Form to cover processing costs. Upon receipt of this application, complete with the $140 fee, a Registration Information E-Mail, containing your PIN and PERM numbers, will be sent to you so that you can access our GOLD on-line registration system.
- High School Students—If you are a high school student and would like to take courses, please look at the Off Campus Pre-College Website and contact Doris O'leske .

Registration Process
Within three working days of receiving your application, you will be able to register for Off Campus courses. Look on the Summer Sessions website, Off-Campus Courses page for the enrollment codes for these courses. Once you have your enrollment codes, go on to GOLD and register for your courses.

$96 per off-campus unit
$140 Application Fee for Visiting Non-UC Students
*Note: Fees are proposed pending approve and are subject to change.
Also Note: If a student elects to take both on and off campus courses, their fees on BARC will reflect the on campus rate of $147 per unit as well as the campus based fee of $317.19. BARC accounts will be credited the difference between the on campus rate ($147 per unit) and the off campus rate ($96 per unit) as soon as possible after June 29, 2007, for courses that were taken off campus.
