Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS)
CLAS helps students increase their mastery of course material by offering free assistance in the form of course-specific tutorial groups, drop-in services and academic skills development. CLAS group tutorials are offered for many math, science and statistics courses. CLAS study skills workshops help students organize their time, prepare for essay and objective exams, take good lecture notes, and improve their reading efficiency and composition and test-taking. Drop-in assistance is available one-to-one for foreign language, math, science, probability & statistics and writing. One-to-one services with writing and study skills are also offered by appointment. Career Services
At Career Services, both undergraduate and graduate students receive the help they need to make choices and decisions about their educational and career options. Service is available on a drop-in basis or by appointments. Informative workshops and classes for all stages of the career development and job search process are offered, along with numerous resources to help students gain the skills and information they need to be successful in their careers. College of Letters & Science Honors Program

Counseling Services
It's important for the student community to know that professional counselors are available on campus to help reduce the stresses and discuss any difficulties that are brought on by college life. At Counseling Services, students can receive services from psychologists who provide objectivity and advice about the personal issues triggering stress, anxiety or depression, especially if these issues are interfering with a student's academic life or causing academic difficulty. Psychologists can also help clarify values, goals, and identify options; build confidence; and assist with relationships. Meetings are confidential and no information is released without a student's written consent. Counseling Services also provides group therapy, peer advisors who are trained in stress management techniques, egg and massage chairs, and workshops on relaxation and massage. Disabled Students Program (DSP)
DSP coordinates services for disabled students and assists students with permanent and temporary disabilities. DSP provides readers, notetakers, interpreters, referrals, registration assistance, and supplemental orientation to eligible students. Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
EOP Counselors are available to mentor students, as well as offer academic and career advising, referrals, and information about support services available on campus and in the community. They assist students in their negotiations with the institution and act as intermediaries, when necessary. The goal is to advise and prepare students at each class level for their post-graduation plans of graduate/professional school admission or entry in the work force.   The following is a sample of services we provide to students: Financial Aid and scholarship advising; Associated Students Emergency grant; personal counseling and support; residential life and housing assistance; major guidance and career planning; student leadership development; internship, research and mentoring programs. Handbook for Students - Kiosk

Leadership Certificate Program (LCP)
This program combines coursework, educational workshops, and practical leadership experience to help UCSB students develop into future leaders with integrity and dedication to their respective career interests. It values a diversity of styles as a means to develop awareness and understanding of various leadership approaches, styles, and attitudes. Library Research
The library provides many different ways to get help with your research needs! Visit the reference desk where librarians can work with you to find the right sources for your research topics, or take advantage of our new "Research 4 U", a one-on-one research advice service which is a little like having a personal trainer. You can also use our online chat service; send in questions by email, or just give us a call! www.library.ucsb.edu/ask

Office of Student Life (OSL)
The Office of Student Life provides general assistance in problem-solving and referrals, dealing with personal emergencies, and processing letters of recommendation and administrative withdrawals. The OSL assists over 250 campus organizations with leadership training and development, program planning, fundraising, trustee accounts, publicity and promotion, and special projects. Orientation Programs
Each summer, Orientation Programs offers one-day Orientation Sessions for transfer students and their parents/families. The Transfer Orientation is designed to assist with the transition to UCSB from other institutions and the selection of appropriate Fall courses. During Summer 2007 sessions will be held on July 26, 27 and August 6, 7, and are by reservation only. Activities include academic advising; presentations about campus resources and services; tours of the campus, facilities, and Isla Vista; lunch in the dining commons; and online Fall course registration assistance. Students who chose not to attend an Orientation Session will not be able to register for Fall quarter classes until September. Recreational Center (RecCen)
Available for daily use, the RecCen is the campus workout center offering swimming pools, racquetball and squash courts, gymnasiums, weight rooms, a climbing wall, tennis courts, and a variety of cardio machines. Other recreational programs offered through Leisure Review and Adventure feature a broad range of activities and classes on scuba diving, kayaking, dancing, cycling, martial arts, sailing, plus more. Intramural sports and sport clubs are also available. Re-Entry/Non-Traditional Student Resource Center
Located in the Student Resource Building, this Center is devoted to the needs of students, who are returning to the university after an interruption in their formal education, and are likely to face challenges other traditional college-age students may not confront. A support group, coffee hours, and a lounge are offered throughout the year under the auspices of the Women's Center. The Center also provides services to student parents with support groups, workshops, a child-friendly lounge, advocacy and resources and referrals, and even free lockers for quarterly use. These services provide the opportunity for re-entry students to meet one another in an informal setting. Registrar
This office publishes the General Catalog and the quarterly Schedule of Classes. These publications may be purchased at the UCSB Bookstore, but the information contained in them is also available through GOLD (Gaucho On-Line Data) or other web sites (www.catalog.ucsb.edu, www.registrar.ucsb.edu). GOLD is a tool for students to update their addresses, register for classes and view their academic records. An office e-mail and phone directory is available at the Registrar's web site. The Office of the Registrar is located in SAASB 1105.

Women's Center
The Women's Center is a place to study, relax, and meet friends. You can view art in the gallery, do research in the Center's library, use the NetStation, or obtain referrals to services on- and off-campus. The Center offers workshops, films, and lectures that explore both the concerns and achievements of women. The Center houses the Rape Prevention Education Program, which provides support and educational programs to help prevent sexual assault, as well as the Sexual Harassment Prevention Education Program, which provides workshops and consultation to students, faculty, and staff.
