COVID-19 UPDATE: The Summer Scholars Program (SSP) is cancelled for 2020. Without the possibility of hosting students residentially, many of the on-campus programmatic elements of SSP will be compromised and we will be unable to offer the robust university experience that our students expect. While SSP will not be offered this year, if students are interested in experiencing UC Santa Barbara academically, they have the option to apply as a Summer Sessions open enrollment student and enroll in undergraduate courses. Please note that these courses will be delivered remotely. If you are interested in the open enrollment option, email email@example.com for more information.
The Summer Scholars Program allows motivated students to jumpstart their higher education career by enrolling in two credit-bearing courses while experiencing college life alongside a diverse population of undergraduate students at UC Santa Barbara. In addition to engaging in meaningful coursework, college preparation seminars, and professional development workshops, students will participate in evening and weekend social activities and events that will acquaint them with Santa Barbara's beautiful surroundings, and introduce them to life as a member of the Gaucho community. Students have the option to live in an on-campus residence hall or commute to campus.
Academic Preparation: Build a toolkit for success with workshops on time management,
study skills, and dealing with stress.
Admissions Edge: Learn to stand out in the college application process by participating in
seminars led by UC Santa Barbara Admissions Counselors.
Gaucho Forums: Gain a comprehensive introduction to the university by learning about our
majors, resources, and campus life.
Beyond the classroom: Attend GRIT talks on cutting-edge research and enjoy social events
to connect with like-minded peers.
Participants will benefit from the plethora of academic resources UC Santa Barbara has to offer, as well as workshops designed specifically to guide students through the college admissions process and beyond. Whether you are looking to enroll in an academic course in a new discipline at the university level, explore a potential major or minor, or engage in a special interest topic, you can find a match at UC Santa Barbara in the summer.
